EXPERIENCED TECHNICAL ARTIST (£55K-£65K)

Dream Harvest, a Brighton (UK) based Indie Studio, are looking for an Experienced Technical Artist to join their close-knit team to help push the visual quality of their games to the next level.

You will be working on a brand new IP at the studio and have a hand in shaping all aspects of the artistic vision for the project from the ground up along with any and all future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Create scalable procedural tools for our level/environment teams.
  • Create tools to support the procedural generation of Characters and NPC’s.
  • Support other technical art areas such as lighting and VFX.
  • Collaborate with environment artists, level designers and character artists as you iterate on your tools based on their feedback.
  • Support the team in the use of those tools and the creation of demo content
  • Use your expertise in procedural solutions to improve our procedural workflows and production solutions.
  • Participate in technical art reviews, post-mortem analysis, and encourage artists to share knowledge with their peers;
  • Work with the the rest of the art team to identify ways to increase efficiencies in processes and production pipelines and identify risks or flaws in proposed pipelines;
  • Provide documentation of art processes and assist in defining the art pipelines
  • Streamline modelling, texturing and visual effects to meet the needs of the project;
  • Optimise content for memory and performance gains;
  • Understand best practices, pipelines and workflows;
  • Provide feedback and advice to team members;
  • Document and train artists in approved 2D and 3D techniques and methods;
  • Maintain a balance between day to day work and improving workflows;
  • Be involved in the development and rendering of artwork, modelling, animation and texturing when required.

Required Skills

  • Experience creating procedural solutions and algorithms in a game or film production environment
  • Knowledge of art asset pipelines
  • Aptitude for scripting and programming using languages such as C++, Python, etc
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Technical proficiency in areas of 2D and 3D art
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical issues from an aesthetic point of view
  • Previous experience as a Technical Artist or other relevant experience
  • Knowledge of art, design, technical discipline or other relevant subject gained through previous work experience or academic studies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive and results orientated
  • Willingness to share knowledge openly

At Dream Harvest, we're building thought-provoking narrative experiences wrapped in deep strategic gameplay. We aim to challenge genre norms by pushing mechanics in new directions and offering our players new experiences that get them thinking in new ways. We are a multiplatform studio developing premium games across PC, Consoles and Mobile.

Dream Harvest is made up of a highly experienced team, with members having worked for studios such as Creative Assembly senior alumni, having worked across the Total War Franchise, from early games all the way up to the latest Total War: Warhammer 3.

Other team members have worked on projects and games such as Riots' Arcane animation series, The Witcher 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Broken Sword 5, Fable 2 & 3, among many others and have worked at companies & studios like Ubisoft, Fortiche, Disney, SIDE and OMUK.

Our first title, NeuroNet: Mendax Proxy, tells the story of a city-management AI discovering its humanity in a world losing theirs to technology.Our next title, which is currently in pre-production, is a turn-based tactical RPG set within a grimdark Victorian London and combines elements of Xcom, Monster Hunter, Bloodborne and This War Of Mine.
